Our history
What is the idea behind Fundación Libertad and how was it born?
Fundación Libertad is a non-profit NGO legally established on July 7, 1996, under Ministerial Agreement #1002, in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. An idea that was planted many years earlier by our Founder, Mgtr. Nabor Reyes. Inspired by observing that his daughter, Mariana Cruzatty, suffered permanent hearing damage due to an accident, which in the future caused labor, social, educational, health, and economic difficulties, he decided to create an institution that would support her and all those who faced these obstacles.
What is the real scope of Fundación Libertad?
Since 1996, the management of Fundación Libertad, led by our Founder, has built a path toward social inclusion; on March 12, 13, 14, and 16, 1998, sewing and tailoring courses for people with hearing disabilities were held at the National Union of Journalists building, and that same year on March 18, a lecture on the role of women in Ecuador took place at the Guayaquil Chamber of Commerce, in which Mgtr. Nabor Reyes participated. Many other activities have been documented and presented as part of the journey for Fundación Libertad to become what it is today.
Who is Nabor Reyes?
He is the man who made all this possible, a father, a son, a brother, and a husband who guided his four children with the support and fervor of an unstoppable human being. Day after day, he continues to motivate everyone who is part of the Libertad Foundation team.
